Domain Registry Scams

Hi all,

I wanted to share with you an email I got this morning. Hopefully it’ll keep some from falling for their scams!! Notice the grammar mistakes, that’s what got me to look at it more closely.

(It’s very urgent, please transfer this email to your CEO. Thanks)

We are the domain name registration service company in China. On March 9, 2016, we received an application from Ketai Holdings Ltd requested “custombagpatterns” as their internet keyword and China (CN) domain names. But after checking it, we find this name conflict with your company name or trademark. In order to deal with this matter better, it’s necessary to send email to you and confirm whether this company is associated with your company or not?

Kind regards

I thought it was a legit email and replied telling them that the company requesting  “custombagpatterns” was not associated with my site. I then googled
“Justin Liu General Manager China Registry” and found out that it is scam!!! And its been happening to a lot of people. They’re basically are out to get your money in a sneaky way that looks legit. I didn’t even know this kind of scam existed!! There are a lot of articles out there on this, and I’m going to post a few.
A few articles that give more info and what to watch out for and how to handle them!
